All of our teacher CPD courses have been carefully written and resourced by our expert team. Each course aims to give teachers in depth knowledge and understanding of the key concepts, allowing them to teach it to the very highest of standards with the utmost confidence.
Full day course
9.30 am - 3.30 pm
This course focuses on spectroscopic elucidation of organic structures using NMR, IR and mass spectrometry. Delegates will gain an understanding of the theory behind each technique and how this may appear in examination questions. They will then embark on a series of workshops to develop their elucidation skills by methodically interpreting spectra and other information. The course concludes with a session that relates the skills they have developed to the syllabi, alongside some suggested teaching methods and activities.
Full or half day course
This course is organised into two sessions, which can be booked individually or as a package. The morning session covers the key principles of organic chemistry including nomenclature, isomerism (including Cahn-Ingold-prolog priority rules), structure and bonding of organic molecules and understanding/application of basic mechanisms. The afternoon session is focused on advanced (A Level only) organic chemistry and also provides suggested teaching methods and stretch and challenge activities. The team will use their advanced knowledge to bring context to the mechanisms and compounds that are studied at AS/A level, thus enhancing engagement in lessons.
